Double Trouble
Double Trouble..Now... I gotta cuppla yarns for ya this week...I've had a few dayz off work (Cause I bin workin real hard lately) an inbetween sortin some shit out (Like me life in general (Only good stuff though)) I managed ta squeezzzzz in a cuppla fishin tripz with me ol'fella.(Dad) lol..Yeah well ya know its gettin a bit cool these dayz, so its a good time ta chase the winta fish. Ya know fish like whitin,bream,grunter,flathead,salmon,trevally(fa Fun) an MACKERAL.....So.. it was a pritty dam nice day an with the tide n times bein like they were it was lookin alright for a good bream sesh down the ol'' Bohle . So we was Off.....We started out draggin some lures around an dad hooked up to a rat Barra that jumped n flipped an shook the hooks.An that was It fa trollin. So.. we was off again, chasin bait... Now it was high tide (in my defence) which is the worst time to catch most baits.So therefore there wasn't much around. An after an hour or so of castin, I got 2 good prawn n 3 live mullet.But we did see a real nice 10 foot or so Croc sunnin itself on a high bank.(an took some good pics without annoyin it to much)... Luckily we took a coupla bags of prawn bait with us.......So we ended up findin a spot in the river we could nestle into an throw out a cuppla speculaters. It started out slow then they started comin on like a bunch of Cane Toads crushin n eatin a nest of cockroaches..(sorry bout that I was thinkin bout somethin else)..... They came on strong....Me n the Ol'fella had a ball on the light gear rippin in good bream one after another.I slabbed up the biggest live mullet(it was smashed by bream) I tried the two live prawn(smashed by bream) One little live mullet (SMASHED!!(bream)) We were nearly ready to go home so dad got the last live mullet we had left. An after about 10/15 minutes he got pinged by a good Barra(he was on!!) Now I could tell ya bout the life n death struggle they had, or I could just tell ya
The Next Trip...
Righto we're off again..This time we're chasin Mackeral (doggie(school) mackeral) Now these lil'suckers are fun bullets on the lighter gear, whether you use bait or lures.Now look I don''t wanna upset anyone that doesn't live ere' but the weathers been perfect.I mean it was glassin out out there.Looked like I coulda drove me 4.3m tinny straight out the reef.But me ol'man talked me inta stickin round Maggie island an the shippin channel..So anyway we went out trollin some lures around for awhile until we started gettin smoked by good doggies.Now theres a little thing in me fishin I like ta call Happy Kaos ,this refers to that time when ya fishin when all hell breaks loose.Times like when ya hook a good Barra an the whole boat erupts with action,an everyone on board has a job ta''do.An theres no betta example of Happy Kaos then when ya Mackeral fishin cause.....IT'S ON.!! One time there me ol'man's rod got hit that hard it ripped 2 stainless steel screws outta the rod holder.(but don't worry he'll be payin for new ones). Dad was on fire he was pullin em' in like Brad Pitt with the ladiesss..I had ta catch a 8kg Spaniard just ta keep up with im''.It was the only legal Spaniard we got but we did catch another 6 undersize ones.Spanish Mackeral have to be 75cm to be legal, so ya really need to know the difference between them an other members of the Mackeral family cause they all got there own size an bag limits.(now thatz about as serious as I get).We didn't get any Spotty Mackeral but we did catch about 20 odd Doggies.One time there I was pullin in a Doggie an a bloody 5 foot barracuda swam over an took it off the lure an I'm sure it winked at me when it swam off..The water was flat calm an crystal clear an there was even Dolfins swimmin around playin in the water just near us.It was another perfect day. I couldn't of picked a betta time ta have a few dayz off if I hadda planned it an studied the weather an tides meself...........CO INSIDENCE..... maybe..?
