Slayin in the bay

Sooo....... Whatta ya do? Its been windy for two weeks straight and ya mate rocks up friday arvo for a surprise weekend visit and he wants to go fishin'. I meen what choice have ya got , ya gotsta go fishin'. So whether it was luck or just some mermaids tryin ta crack onta me I don't know but the weather came good for one day only . We left real early about 8am (well thats early for me) we planned on hitting the shipping channel between Townsville and Magnetic Island an chase some school mackeral. It seemed a lot of people had the same idea. School macks like Doggies an Spotties can be fooled  with many different styles and techniques of fishing and they were all on show this day. We chose to troll lures as the water was clear and the wind was down.Fishing was slow very slow it seemed everyone was there except for the fish. After 3 or so hours we had landed 4 fish, two undersize Spaniards (75cm for legal) and two undersize Doggies (50cm for legal) Things were lookin grim and it looked like everyone had had enough an were goin home. Ashley did get one line smokin'' run that straightened the hooks on his lure and  we both agreed it didn't hit like a macko. We moved on closer to Maggie and cruised around exploring and just enjoying such a beautiful day. I was checkin out the sounder when a large ball of bait came up on the screen and there were some big fish sittin in amongst them. So out went the lures and we started workin the school. WHACK!!!!!  My line got hit like a McDonalds drive through after a big night on the piss.....(This fish was hungry.!!)... Now this was a good fight the sort ya go lookin for The sort ya dream about....Then we saw it slowly risin through the crystal blue water a golden jewel appeared growing larger an larger with every push of its tail. (Look I know I'm ramblin on but this was good shit man.)  Then there it was a Mighty Fingermark one of the best fish on the planet. This fish was a horse 92cm just awesome. Now I haven't had Fingermark for awhile so we kept it an they are beautiful eatin fish. But I have ta say if ya don't know already Fingermark are one of the slowest growing fish in the sea. A 92cm Fingermark could be about 35 years old and they don't start breeding till there about 70cm. So anyway after we finnished the high fivin and the Fingermark jig we were back into it. It didn't take long before me line was peelin again another big fish towin me boat around. An after another great fight up came a very nice Golden Trevally, so we took a few pics an threw er'' back in.. It didn't take to long before Ashley got nailed by another steam train this was a big fish too.. He was usin the lighter gear an he had his hands full so he had ta bring out a bit of razzle dazzle ta land this one. It was another great struggle between man and fish ( Ey.....did ya like that one) then up from the deep came another golden Fingermark this beauty was 89cm.. Freekin Awesome..! Now we would have let this one go ( I don't care wat you say)  but the lure was right down its gullet an it was bleeding to much so we had to keep it. After we sorted everything out an finnished our Fingermark jig we sounded up more big fish but both desided we didn't wanta risk killin anymore of these Great fish. So we packed up an headed home swoppin recipes on the way. Ya know it just goes ta show sometimes when the chance ta go fishin comes up ya just gotta drop everything and go. And sometimes when ya out there and things are lookin grim ya just gotta stick with it or maybe try some new things and Hang on..... Cause it might just all turn ta Gold.

6 2 an even.....DAZ
